What You'll Do in This Role
You'll use ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, then produce quality images for interpretation. This is a PRN (as needed) position at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.
You'll set up and adjust the equipment yourself, manually maneuvering transducers to get the right views. The work involves both routine and complex studies, plus assisting with a variety of imaging procedures. You need to recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations. If something's not working right, you report potential problems or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate people. You'll also lock or tag out equipment when necessary.
Getting images to PACS quickly and correctly matters. That means proper image quality, labels, and patient data/history every time. You help keep the department clean and orderly: procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and any other area in the department. You'll maintain compliance with regulatory agencies and perform other duties as assigned. This role requires working in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
What You Need to Qualify
- Completion of a Sonography program
- No prior experience required
- You're a registered sonographer holding two or more registries appropriate to the department(s) you'd work in. Accepted combinations from the job posting include: ABD/OB, ABD/MSK, ABD/BR, or OB/FE. Your second registry must be used in the primary department or a secondary department at least 30% of the time.

Physical Demands
This role has real physical requirements. You'll be standing and walking constantly. You'll frequently use vision and depth perception for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances. Frequent hearing and speech are needed to share information through oral communication. You'll also need hearing to distinguish body sounds or hear alarms and malfunctioning machinery.
You'll frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing 0 to 25 pounds, and you'll frequently lift and move patients. Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry are part of the job. Occasionally you'll lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing 25 to 50 pounds. There's occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors, plus occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Rare kneeling and sitting.
