About This Role

Let's talk about the job

This is a Lead Teacher position at The Learning Experience in Oklahoma City, OK. You'd be the person running the classroom, planning the day, and bringing our curriculum to life for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers. It's about creating a space where kids feel safe, curious, and happy to learn.

You're setting the foundation. Your day is built around our L.E.A.P. Curriculum®, but you'll adapt it to fit each child. There's paperwork and planning, sure, but the real work happens on the floor during playtime.

What you'd do every day

  • Plan and prepare your classroom to be a welcoming place for kids to play and grow.
  • Implement our lesson plans while adjusting for individual needs.
  • Keep a safe environment as your absolute top priority.
  • Talk with parents regularly about their child's progress; we use an app and have in person chats.
  • Work with the center team on goals like keeping families enrolled and engaged.
  • Build genuine relationships with kids, families, and your coworkers.

The kind of person we need

We need someone who genuinely likes this work. You're leading a classroom and mentoring other teachers sometimes. A passion for early childhood development isn't just a nice to have here; it's everything.

  • You must meet all state specific guidelines for a Lead Teacher role.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required. Coursework in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • You have to be at least 18 years old.
  • You need extended experience working in childcare, including time in classroom leadership roles.
  • Meeting all state and federal requirements is mandatory. That includes immunizations, employment physicals, and completing required health and safety training.

The practical skills you'll use

  • Using good judgment to spot and handle potential risks for kids.
  • Taking care of daily needs: diapering, dressing, grooming, feeding.
  • Modeling strong communication for kids and helping them navigate conflicts.
  • Keeping children active and involved in activities that are right for their age.
  • Staying composed, patient, and professional no matter what the day brings.

The physical side of things

This isn't a desk job. You're on your feet, moving around all day. Here’s what that involves:
