About This Role

Psychiatric RN, Nights

Oakwood Springs is a 72 bed behavioral health hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. We're part of Lifepoint Health, which means we have resources but our focus is local and direct. This isn't just a job; it's the kind of work where you see the difference you make, every single shift.

We need an RN for PRN night shifts. That's 7 PM to 7 AM on Unit 1. You'll be the one holding down the fort, overseeing everything from patient care to staff delegation. It's a big role, but if you're good at thinking on your feet and leading by example, you'll fit right in.

What You'll Do

The core of this job is clinical leadership and direct patient care on the overnight shift. You're in charge.

  • Complete accurate patient assessments and identify needs quickly.
  • Initiate nursing interventions based on those assessments.
  • Provide care that's appropriate for each patient's specific condition and age.
  • Your documentation has to be timely and correct, especially relating to medical necessity.
  • You own the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient; completing it and revising it as needed.
  • Perform Quality Improvement assessments accurately and on schedule.
  • Plan and document patient care within set timeframes per policy.
  • Oversee the entire shift. That includes delegating tasks like running groups, close observation checks, and meal supervision.
  • You'll supervise staff to make sure policies are followed and that your whole team delivers consistent, exemplary care.
  • Monitor patients for any change in condition and respond appropriately, including notifying the physician when necessary.
  • Administer medications strictly according to hospital policy.
  • Interact with every patient using empathy, dignity, and respect. Every time.
  • Deliver quality nursing care to ensure treatment plan goals are met, following all hospital procedures and demonstrating full competency.

The Specifics We Need

A lot is riding on this position. Here’s exactly what you must bring to the table.

  • A current RN license for the state where our facility operates is mandatory.
  • The minimum education requirement is an Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • A year of experience working in a psychiatric healthcare facility would be a major plus; we prefer it but it isn't an absolute deal breaker if your other skills are strong.
  • And there are two non negotiable certifications:

CPR certification is required within your first 30 days here; you need it before any patient contact. De escalation certification is also required within your first 30 days; again, before any patient contact. This environment demands sharp critical thinking skills and solid judgment because you’re often working with minimal supervision. You've got to handle stress well and know what action to take when things get intense.
