The Job

US Foods is looking for a Logistics Manager in Oklahoma City, OK. This is a hands on role where you'll oversee drivers and transportation associates, with a big focus on safety. You'll be out on the road regularly, riding along with drivers, and also spending time in the office handling scheduling and planning. The goal is simple: keep deliveries running smoothly, safely, and on time.

What You'll Do

  • Lead with safety as the top priority. You'll champion safety procedures, processes, and training to create a culture where everyone ; associates, customers, and the public ; stays injury free.
  • Coach and develop drivers and transportation associates through one on one sessions, training on policy and procedures, and helping solve problems when they come up. You'll make sure everyone understands their job duties and legal responsibilities.
  • Work with Sr. Transportation Managers to review performance and create plans to address gaps in driver and associate development.
  • Build an atmosphere where upward communication is encouraged. Motivate the team to hit department goals and objectives.
  • Direct and supervise the work and productivity of drivers and clerical staff. Drive associate engagement and retention while living out US Foods values.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring transportation personnel alongside Sr. Transportation Managers. Review performance, coach on service and safety targets, and handle disciplinary action when needed.
  • Monitor production goals with a zero error attitude. Anticipate, analyze, and troubleshoot delivery problems, then come up with cost effective and legal solutions. Make sure the team follows DOT regulations.
  • Identify waste and improve processes to work more safely and efficiently.
  • Run routine Safety and Driver Meetings. Oversee maintenance of driver qualification files.
  • Investigate every accident. Maintain an accident file, track causes, and take preventative action.
  • Schedule working shifts using planning tools like Microsoft Excel.
  • Handle other duties assigned by your manager.

Who You'll Supervise

You'll directly supervise union and/or non union drivers.

Who You'll Work With

  • Internal: Transportation leaders and coworkers, drivers, warehouse leaders, and internal customers across departments like Sales.
  • External: Customers.

Work Environment

You'll spend significant time on the road and a portion of your working time in a truck with drivers. That means exposure to noise and vibration levels higher than what you'd find in a passenger car. You'll also spend time in an office working on a computer.

What You Need

  • At least three years of experience in transportation, delivery, or warehouse distribution.
  • At least one year of experience overseeing a workforce.
  • Experience as a driver is a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of transportation and delivery operations, methods, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills.
  • Solid understanding of DOT requirements. Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulations helps.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • High school diploma or GED required; a college degree is preferred.

Travel

About 10% travel is required, typically for mandatory meetings and training.

Physical Requirements

You'll need to be able to do the following occasionally (1% to 33% of the time): stand, walk, lift up to 100 lbs, carry up to 100 lbs, push/pull, climb/balance, stoop/squat, kneel, bend, reach above shoulder, twist, grasp objects, manipulate objects, and have manual dexterity. You'll sit and drive a vehicle frequently (34% to 66% of the time). Lifting over 100 lbs is never required.

Compensation and Benefits

This role comes with an annual incentive plan bonus of up to 10% of your base salary. Benefits may include health insurance, pre tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, and both short term and long term disability coverage.
