What You'll Actually Do
You'll own the implementation plan for the Area produce category and operational strategies across multiple Distribution Centers. This isn't a desk job ; you're making sure every DC in Oklahoma City, OK aligns with US Foods' overall category strategy while also meeting local needs. You'll review product assortment, spot slow movers, and identify growth opportunities. Profitable sales growth within your assigned categories is the goal, and you'll reduce product duplication along the way.
You'll gather local market data through feedback from the culinary team, sales staff, and vendor partners ; trends, competitor intel, new product opportunities. You'll finalize the Area assortment, core complement, and exception SKUs. Weekly produce communication with the sales team? That's on you. You'll work with leadership to implement produce strategy and hit quality objectives. When trucks run late or items get shorted, you're the one coordinating with the corporate team and communicating alternatives to sellers and customers before they arrive.
You'll facilitate product training and new product introductions with DSS, Specialists, and sales staff ; making sure the product and brand message matches US Foods strategy. The culinary team is your close partner: you'll run planning meetings to identify account and category opportunities. FSQA inquiries for the assigned Area? You handle them through the right procedures, and you'll work with the Region team on any national or regional vendor issues. Major Area specific account bids get your thorough analysis, customer onboarding coordination, and ongoing strategy updates to sales staff.
You'll work with QAs, replenishment, and Logistics to maintain quality, on time delivery, and service levels ; that means good communication and produce operations. Local fill in vendors are your responsibility, and you'll make sure customers stay satisfied. When inbound product needs tracking, you're in touch with logistics. When overstock shows up, you'll work with operations, Inventory Control, and QA to sell it quickly ; at a discount if necessary.
Who You'll Supervise
Area and Market Quality Assurance Coordinators and Supervisors.
What You Need
- A four year college degree in business or a related field ; or equivalent field experience.
- At least 7 years of category management experience. That's non negotiable.
- Project management experience is preferred.
- Experience in the Food Service or Food Manufacturing industries is strongly preferred.
- You need to operate successfully within a matrix organization ; working effectively with multiple groups is a must.
- You can work in a team setting, drive organizational transformations, and support change management.
- Fact based recommendations across different management levels? You can do that, and get buy in that improves category performance.
- You're self directed and highly motivated, with strong business acumen, solid interpersonal skills, and excellent presentation skills.
- Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency is required. Working knowledge of PowerPoint is also required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $95,700 - $143,550 per year. Your actual pay depends on factors like where you're located, your experience, and your skillset.
