About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Chef Manager role in Oklahoma City, OK. I've been placing folks in kitchens for over a decade, and this is the kind of position where you need to be just as comfortable leading people as you are running a line. You'll report directly to the General Manager.
What you'll do
The day to day is a mix of people, product, and process. You're running the show.
- Train and manage the kitchen team; supervise all culinary activities.
- Figure out how much food we need, then handle the ordering or purchasing.
- Develop recipes and standardize them so quality is consistent every time.
- Set the presentation and quality standards. You'll plan menus and price them out, too.
- Make sure all equipment is running right and maintained properly.
- Safety and sanitation in the kitchen? That's on your list to oversee.
- Run special catering events. Sometimes you might even teach or demo techniques for the team.
A big part of this is team development and building good relationships with our clients. You'll also have a hand in managing the budget and rolling out company programs. Just so you know, at Aramark job duties can change, or new ones can pop up without a formal memo. It's about getting the job done.
The background we need
This isn't an entry level gig. We need someone who's been in the trenches and knows how to lead from there.
- You've got 2 to 3 years in a similar chef management or related position.
- On top of that, you have 2 to 3 years of post high school education or equivalent experience. A culinary degree would be a great plus.
- Your knowledge of food service principles and practices needs to be pretty advanced at this point.
- You've managed people before, or you've had to solve complex problems; you have that experiential knowledge it takes.
- You need solid communication skills: talking, reading, and writing.
