Business Development Representative
About This Role
The Role
This is a Business Development Representative position with US Foods, based out of a corporate office in Oklahoma City, OK. You're not managing a desk ; you're out in the field, building relationships with restaurant operators both in person and virtually. It's a sales role focused on bringing in new accounts and growing US Foods' share of the market in your region.
What You'll Do Day to Day
- Build a real business plan to capture and penetrate market share inside your designated area or region. This isn't theoretical ; it's about knowing the territory and going after the right targets.
- Produce new account revenue that lines up with both organization and individual targets. You'll have numbers to hit, and you'll be measured against them.
- Manage relationships across multiple sites, working with sellers, sales leaders, and Category Operations Managers. You're the connector between different parts of the business.
- Assist with SKU rationalization and assortment, including managing US Foods' Stock versus JIT portfolio. That means deciding what gets stocked and what gets ordered just in time.
- Pursue, secure, and develop high potential new business that can eventually be transitioned to sellers. Your job is to get the door open; the sellers keep it open and grow the account.
- Implement specific initiatives to promote growth of new product lines and drive conversion of competitive offerings. If a restaurant is buying from Sysco, you want them buying from US Foods instead.
- Provide targeted COP training for sellers and sales leaders. You know COP better than most, and you'll teach it.
- Support product conversions and promote by product conversions ; helping customers switch to US Foods products across their menu.
- Work with region category management and marketing teams to promote marketing activities for internal and external customers. That means campaigns, promotions, and events.
- Collaborate with the Area Pricing Manager on contracted and non contracted pricing. Pricing is a tool, and you'll use it strategically.
- Conduct SY Business Reviews with Area Leadership. You'll present data, results, and plans.
- Use a Customer Relationship Management tool to communicate with sellers and manage the sales process end to end.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager. Sales is fluid, and things come up.
Where You'll Work
This is an onsite role. You'll perform your assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods office in Oklahoma City, OK. But it's not strictly a desk job ; you're customer facing, engaging with restaurant operators both on site at their locations and virtually through video calls and phone.

- A minimum of 3 years of sales experience is required, specifically in COP. That's non negotiable.
- At least 5 years of experience opening accounts greater than $0.5M. Foodservice industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional sales and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to warm, convert, and close high potential new street accounts. You can walk into a cold restaurant and leave with a signed customer.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills. You have to sell internally and externally, and you build relationships that actually work to achieve business goals.
- Comfort and skill presenting in front of large groups of people using creative presentation methods. You're not reading from slides; you're persuading a room.
- A highly motivated, results driven attitude. You work autonomously and don't need someone standing over your shoulder.
- Detail orientation with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Sales is deadline driven, and the details matter.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
- Up to 50% overnight travel. You'll be on the road regularly, visiting customers and internal partners.
