Industrial Maintenance Technician

About This Role

What You'll Be Doing

This is a full time industrial maintenance role at Cargill's salt facility in Oakland, CA. You'll work 1st shift, and overtime happens ; weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice. The pay is $42.08 an hour.

Your day to day involves a mix of planned and unplanned work. You're completing preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance throughout the facility. You'll document everything you do and the conditions you find using maintenance computer software. Expect to install, maintain, test, evaluate, and repair components like vertical and centrifugal pumps, heavy mobile equipment, hydraulic systems, 12 & 24V mobile electrical systems, belt conveyors, gear reducers, and bearings. You'll use standard tools ; power tools, basic hand tools, pneumatic tools, electric tools ; whatever the job needs. Reading mechanical or electrical schematics, blueprints, and operation manuals is part of it. You might operate forklifts or heavy equipment and an aerial lift. Safety policies matter here; you'll follow them closely and keep your work area clean.

What You Need to Bring

  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
  • At least 18 years old
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of industrial or heavy equipment maintenance experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • The ability to understand and communicate in English (both verbal and written)
  • Basic math skills ; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
  • The physical ability to bend, lift up to 50 pounds (with or without accommodation), kneel, climb (4 feet or above), crawl, twist ; all with PPE on when needed
  • The capacity to work indoors and outdoors in varied conditions like heat, rain cold dust loud noise (PPE provided)
  • A willingness to work overtime including weekends holidays or different shifts when asked ahead of time

Extra Skills That Help

  • Experience with SAP or another Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • A Certified Maintenance Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification ; or a willingness to get it
  • A heavy equipment/industrial maintenance technical diploma from trade school or three years equivalent experience instead
  • Experience with vertical pump centrifugal pump maintenance including repairs operations reading pump flow curves schematic reading etc.
  • Predictive Maintenance certifications Precision Maintenance certifications those count too
  • Troubleshooting background with hydraulic systems pneumatic systems belt roller conveyors vertical centrifugal pumps gear reducers bearings anything along those lines
  • A high school diploma/GED plus two years equivalent work experience if that's your path instead of more schooling
