Dispatcher

The Role

This is a Dispatcher position for MV Transportation in Oakland, CA. You'd be directing the day to day route operations, reporting to the Dispatch Supervisors, and making sure everything runs on time and within budget. Every shift involves talking with drivers and clients, tracking sign in and sign out times, and flagging any service issues to the Dispatch Supervisors or Dispatch Managers.

What You'll Be Doing

• Taking client calls and communicating issues to drivers, Dispatch Supervisors, or Dispatch Managers
• Monitoring radio, phones, and the on road service quality
• Keeping an eye on driver sign in and sign out each day
• Assigning trips to drivers to make sure workload is spread evenly across routes
• Checking daily system performance and helping review operating performance
• Noting any late or closed routes and passing that info to Dispatch Supervisors or Dispatch Managers
• Other duties, as assigned

What You Need to Bring

• One year of previous Dispatcher experience is preferred
• Two years of Customer Service experience is preferred
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Experience with Trapeze software
• The ability to juggle multiple tasks at once and keep your cool under pressure
• A serious commitment to customer service
• A professional phone manner
• Knowledge of the Oakland, CA service area is a plus

Pay and Benefits

The starting pay rate is $20.40 per hour. Benefits kick in for full time employees and include a Teamsters Health Clinic while actively working, a 401k with company match, and paid holidays (8 per year). You also get paid sick time: 40 hours after 12 months of employment. Personal days off start at 2 days after one year, go up to 3 days after three years, and hit 4 days after five years ; contingent on appropriate attendance. Jury duty pays up to 5 days after 12 months. Bereavement leave gives you up to 3 days for qualifying family members.
