About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this BCBA role. It's a regional position, which means you won't be stuck in one building. You'll be the clinical lead for our Spectrum Center Schools across several sites in the Oakland, CA area; places like Antioch, Pittsburg, Concord, Oakland, and San Pablo.
You're supporting K 12 special education programs. The core of the job is making sure our teams have the training and tools to create real change for students. You'll report to an Area or Regional VP of Operations and work directly with on site Program Directors.
What you'll do
- Train teachers and staff on how to design solid Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). This isn't a one time thing; it's ongoing guidance.
- Monitor the quality of academic instruction and behavioral support services. You're evaluating what's working and what needs to shift.
- Support staff by modeling best practices in the classroom to help students meet their IEP goals.
- Implement evidence based interventions that focus on academic, social, emotional, and independent functioning.
- Step in with crisis management for students exhibiting aggressive or self injurious behavior. A big part of this is developing strategies that reduce the need for 1:1 staffing over time.
- Collaborate with on site teams to collect and analyze student behavior data. You'll track progress and make sure interventions are actually moving the needle.
- Conduct regular quality checks at every campus in your region; looking at student, staff, classroom, and site levels; and make data driven recommendations for improvement.
- Develop on site teams through training on behavioral assessment, intervention, positive behavior supports, data collection, and crisis management.
- Provide guidance and supervision to staff in your region who are pursuing BACB certification (like RBTs or BCaBAs), as agreed upon with program leadership.
- Help develop and implement improvement plans for campuses to boost student performance and staff effectiveness.
- Participate in multi disciplinary team meetings to discuss behavioral needs and shape comprehensive support strategies.
- Ensure all campuses in your area adhere to Department of Education regulations and our own internal standards for educational and behavioral services.
- Keep accurate records of assessments, interventions, progress, and compliance activities.
- Provide operational support focused on academic achievement, behavioral support, staff retention, and development across all your assigned schools.
The background we need
- A Master’s degree or higher in applied behavior analysis, behavioral therapy, special education or a closely related field is required.
- You must be currently licensed as a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) or be actively in the process of obtaining that credential.
