About This Role
The Role
We're adding a Prep/Server to the kitchen staff at an independent school in New York, NY. This is a full time, onsite position with Elior Independent School Dining. You'd be working with a motivated and energetic team, cooking from scratch and serving meals that matter.
What You'll Be Doing
- Controlling food quality and portion sizes
- Prepping and preparing food from scratch
- Presenting food creatively
- Keeping the kitchen clean and organized
- Storing all food properly
- Following safe food handling policies, procedures, and recipes
What We Need From You
Must haves:
- At least one year of prior culinary experience in a quality, high volume place where scratch cooking was the focus
- A working knowledge of proper culinary methods, techniques, and standards
- You pay close attention to detail and can juggle multiple tasks without dropping anything
- Comfortable using various kitchen equipment and tools; you can identify different food items on sight or by taste/smell
- Customer service experience ; that's a hard requirement here.
Nice to haves:
- A current Food Handlers’ certification would set you apart.
The Pay & Schedule Stuff
The compensation range is $17.00 to $17.50 an hour. Schedule details come up during the interview process with the hiring manager.
