Jobot·New York, NY

About This Role

Hey, it's Lindsey. I'm the recruiter working directly with this client. I've been doing this for over a decade, and I can tell you this isn't your standard clinic job. This is a leadership position at a mission driven nonprofit on the Upper West Side of New York, NY. They run a 146 bed shelter providing trauma informed care and supportive housing for women experiencing homelessness.

The Role

You'd be the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Supervisor. It's a full time, permanent role based at their West 74th Street shelter.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, day shift. You'd oversee the daily psychiatric nursing operations and supervise a team of about ten psychiatric staff members.

What You'd Be Doing

  • Providing clinical supervision, mentorship, and guidance to your team.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on care planning for residents.
  • Leading staff meetings and continuing education initiatives.
  • Your work involves supporting recruitment, onboarding, and retention for the psychiatry department.
  • You'll monitor care quality and help implement improvements.
  • A big part of the job is developing and refining departmental policies and procedures.
  • Addressing patient concerns to elevate satisfaction is key.
  • And you need to stay current on psychiatric best practices to integrate them into the care model here.

What You Need to Bring

  • A Master’s in Nursing with a psychiatric specialty is required.
  • You must have an active, unrestricted NP license in New York State.
  • They're looking for someone with at least two years of experience working as a psychiatric NP.
  • Prior supervisory or managerial experience is preferred; you'll be leading that team of ten from day one.
  • The setting is high acuity and trauma informed. Strong clinical skills are a must, but so are communication and leadership abilities to thrive here.
