The Role
Richmond Center is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) who wants to move into education and staff development. You won't be stuck behind a desk all day. This role is about leading, teaching, and keeping our clinical team sharp on safety, infection control, body mechanics, and everything else the NYSDOH and other regulators require.
You'll coach people directly ; sometimes that means counseling, sometimes it means participating in the disciplinary process. You're there to plan training, monitor how well it sticks, and appraise results. And honestly? You're also expected to keep learning yourself. Attend workshops, read professional publications, build your network stay current in your field.
What You'll Actually Do
- Lead staff development programs with instruction on safety, body mechanics, infection control, hazardous materials ; whatever meets regulatory mandates
- Record and document all educational activity including attendance and responses from participants
- Report on active projects, reactions, and progress daily, weekly and monthly
- Participate in QAPI monthly meetings and projects
- Help the Director of Quality or Director of Nursing plan, coordinate and implement staff programs so we have a well educated team
- Maintain appropriate records; assist in data collection for assessment and evaluation purposes
- Consult with the Director of Quality or Director of Nursing regularly; keep them informed as needed
- Stay in close contact with employees who are off work on disability or worker's comp ; work with their physicians to get them back as soon as possible
- Review incident reports and OSHA reports involving employees injured at work; coordinate education with our loss prevention program
- Provide annual tuberculosis screening for volunteers; follow up on positive Mantoux tests within scope of practice under the Director of Nursing's direction
- Administer Hep B vaccines and Mantoux (TB skin tests) to contracted agencies per guidelines under the Director of Quality or Director of Nursing's direction
The Requirements That Matter
- A minimum 3 years experience as a Nurse Educator specifically in Long Term Care setting ; not just general nursing experience elsewhere
- A current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License ; no exceptions here so make sure yours is active before applying
- Previous experience working in long term care already; that environment comes with its own pace and challenges you need understand beforehand
