About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. I'm helping a solid contractor out west find someone for their building automation team. They do a lot of work on both new construction and updating older systems.
The Work
You'd be the person making sure the brains of a building's HVAC system work right. That means you're out at customer sites most of the time, doing everything from routine check ups to full installations and getting systems up and running.
- Handle preventative maintenance and repairs on building automation controls (BAS/BMS).
- Install and commission control systems for smaller to medium sized projects.
- Your day involves start up, testing, system diagnostics, and checking everything from the main controllers down to individual devices.
- Plan on being in the field about 80% of the time. They'll give you a company vehicle for that.
What You Need to Bring
This isn't an entry level gig. You need some specific hands on experience to hit the ground running.
- A minimum of two years working with building automation (BAS/BMS) or commercial HVAC controls is mandatory.
- You should have direct HVAC controls engineering experience under your belt.
- You need to be familiar with at least one major control system brand. Think Schneider Electric, Siemens, Johnson Controls (JCI), Automated Logic (ALC), Trane, Delta Controls, Distech, Honeywell, Daikin, or something similar.
What Would Make You Stand Out
A few extra skills would really make your application shine here.
- Tridium Niagara experience is a big plus; certification is even better.
- If you've worked with GUI interfaces for LonWorks, BACnet, or Modbus hardware, that's relevant.
- Any background with DDC Controls is also good to see.
The Details & How It Works
The pay range for this role is $90,000 to $140,000 per year. The exact offer will depend on your experience.
The benefits are pretty straightforward:
- A comprehensive health benefits package.
- A 401(k) plan with a company match.
- A company vehicle for work use (obviously).
- A generous amount of paid time off plus paid holidays.
Location: This position is based in New York, NY and involves regular travel within the area to customer sites.
