About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this role. We're looking for an Estimator who thinks like a Project Manager. You'd be joining a construction team that's been at it for over fifty years, building out commercial spaces; think hotels, restaurants, high end interiors; all over the country. The work is fast, the details are everything, and you'll need to be comfortable switching between crunching numbers and managing relationships.
What you'll do
The core of this job is running estimates from start to finish on projects typically between $500,000 and $5 million. You won't just be handed a set of plans; you'll go to the meetings where projects are handed off, so you really understand the specs and what we're bidding on.
- You're putting together scopes of work and detailed cost breakdowns, finding smarter ways to build when it makes sense.
- Budgets aren't static; you'll keep them updated with real costs as a project evolves.
- This isn't a solo gig. You'll work side by side with Project Managers and Superintendents from preconstruction all the way through to final punch list.
- A big part of your week will involve talking to subcontractors: getting bids from them, reviewing their proposed scopes, and helping decide who we hire.
- You'll help forecast what we bill the client and set up schedules for buying materials.
- When things change on site (and they always do), you'll price those change orders and keep the field team updated on costs.
- The job also involves helping pull permits, talking directly with clients sometimes, and making sure all the paperwork is squared away at the end.
- You'll help track the project schedule based on what's actually happening in the field.
- And you’ll review drawings, RFIs, and submittals with two questions in mind: can we build it this way, and what does it cost?
What you bring
We need someone who's done this before in commercial construction. Five years minimum estimating experience is required. If your background is in hospitality, restaurants, or interior fit outs, that's a huge plus.
- A hybrid background where you've also worn a Project Manager hat is ideal. At the very least, you need a solid understanding of how PMs operate.
- You should know how different building systems go together and how trades coordinate (or sometimes don't). A firm grasp on cost control is non negotiable.
- The tools: you have to be strong in Excel and Procore. Knowing MS Project would be helpful too.
- You're organized. You can explain complex things clearly in writing and in person. And you can juggle several projects when deadlines are tight without letting details slip.
The deal
The base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $150,000 per year. On top of that, there's a year end discretionary bonus based on company performance.
The schedule isn't specified here; we can discuss hours during an interview. The location for this role is New York, NY.

The job comes with full benefits (medical/dental/vision insurance options). There's also paid time off for vacation and holidays; specific amounts would be confirmed upon an offer.
