Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care across multiple assigned units, adapting to specific protocols and patient populations.
  • Administer medications, perform treatments, and monitor patient conditions with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Complete thorough documentation that meets the standards of each clinical area you support.
  • Collaborate effectively with each unit's distinct care team, from physicians to support staff.
  • Respond to changes in patient status and participate in codes or rapid responses as needed.

Requirements

  • A current, unencumbered RN license valid in the state where New York, NY is located.
  • Minimum of one year of recent acute care hospital experience is typically needed.
  • BLS certification is required; ACLS is often preferred or required within a set timeframe.
  • The ability to quickly orient to new units, electronic health records, and equipment.
  • This role involves prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and requires clear clinical judgment under variable pressure.

No two shifts are exactly alike. You'll receive assignments based on census and acuity, sometimes learning your unit for the day at report. The pace shifts with each department; some days are methodical, others are intensely busy. You'll work with different teams but become known as a reliable resource.
