About This Role
The Gig
This is a part time Event Security Officer role with BEST Crowd Management, based in New York, NY. You'd be working UTEP events ; think the BTS concert in 2026 and UTEP Miners Football games. The pay runs from $10.50 to $12 an hour.
What You'll Actually Do
- Keep a visible, professional presence that matches what the client and BEST expect.
- Walk assigned areas to discourage unauthorized activity and keep everybody safe.
- Watch access points, do bag checks, screen people coming in, and stay alert for anything suspicious.
- React fast when something happens ; medical emergencies, disturbances, or someone trying to get in who shouldn't be there.
- Work alongside event staff, local law enforcement, and emergency services to coordinate security and fix problems as they come up.
- Help attendees out: answer questions, give directions, make sure people feel taken care of.
- Report any security issues or incidents to the right supervisor, law enforcement, or medical team.
- Write down what you see and do during your shift, then submit that documentation to leadership.
- Follow company policies and procedures so everything stays professional and effective.
What You Need
- Age: At least 18 years old (local rules might change this slightly).
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; some college is a plus but not required.
- Experience: Previous event security, law enforcement work, or something similar gives you an edge. It's not mandatory though.
- Physical stuff: You need solid physical fitness because you'll be standing or walking for long stretches at a time.
- Cognitive skills: Sharp observation skills are a must. Problem solving matters too ; you can't freeze up when things go sideways.
