About This Role
Alright, let's talk about the Dietitian role we have open at Triboro Center in New York, NY.
The Work
You're the expert on nutrition here. That means you're assessing residents' nutritional status, developing their care plans, and making your recommendations to the medical staff. You'll handle the special needs: folks who need nutrition support, are dealing with skin breakdown, or have significant weight issues.
A big part of the job is coordination. You're working with outside vendors to get the right supplements and supplies. You're meeting weekly with the full interdisciplinary team to review and adjust care plans. And you're in constant communication with that team every day to make sure care is seamless.
You'll work especially close with our Speech Language Pathologist to get the mechanically altered diets right for residents with swallowing difficulties. Educating residents, their families, and our staff on nutrition concepts and diet modifications is also on you.
On the operational side, you own the menu. You review all changes to ensure they meet our facility's policies and state and federal guidelines. Every day, you're updating diet orders and menu changes in our computer software. You'll monitor the meal service itself to confirm diet modifications are followed.
You supervise and work directly with our dietary team. Part of ensuring quality is conducting routine audits of areas related to nutrition care. You'll routinely evaluate those Dietary Care plans for effectiveness. And you're our point person for compliance on weight monitoring regulations.
What You Need
- You must be a Registered Dietitian (RD). We will also consider candidates who are RD eligible.
- A degree in Nutrition or Dietetics is required.
- We need someone who knows the applicable state and federal guidelines inside and out.
- You have to be comfortable with technology: computer literacy, EMR software, and computer based menu systems are part of daily life here.
- Bring your interpersonal skills; this role is all about connection. Leadership skills are a must as well since you're guiding a team.
