About This Role

The Job

This one's for an entry level mechanic position with AMR in New York, NY. You're starting at $23.00 an hour, and that bumps up based on your experience. The company itself is huge ; over 38,000 employees worldwide ; but what they do is pretty straightforward: emergency medical transportation, patient relocation, fire services, disaster response. You'd be working on the fleet vehicles that make all that happen.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

  • Light mechanical and electrical repairs on AMR vehicles. Nothing too crazy at this level.
  • You'll respond to vehicle breakdowns out in the field when they call you.
  • Logistical support for the department. That means helping out the front line mechanics as needed.
  • Driving company vehicles the right way, following all policies and safety practices.
  • Paperwork matters. You'll fill out repair orders completely, neatly, and on time using their system.
  • Documenting every completed task in their maintenance database.
  • Mandatory fleet training ; you've got to attend it all.
  • Following all company policies and procedures. No exceptions.
  • Information security is everyone's job. Know the policies, go to the training when offered, and report any problems you see.
  • Crank out repairs correctly and quickly when people are waiting on a vehicle.
  • Adapt when the department's priorities shift throughout the day or week.
  • Diagnose vehicles fast during road call situations and get them moving again.
  • Keep your work area clean and safe. No excuses.
  • Tight recordkeeping for parts and materials ; account for everything accurately.
  • Professional relationships with coworkers and outside contacts matter here. Customer service skills count just as much as wrenching skills.

What You Need to Bring

  • A current valid driver's license (non negotiable).
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education (GED works fine).
  • 1 year of verifiable experience as a Line Mechanic or Mechanic Helper/Associate. Real experience only ; they'll check it.
  • 2 ASE certifications. Preferably Brake and Steering/Suspension, but any Truck or Automotive series certs will do if those aren't what you've got yet.
