Alright, let's talk about this IT Manager spot. It's with a company that runs gaming and hospitality venues all over the country. They're looking for someone to run the show for their IT systems across multiple locations. What you'll do
You're in charge of making sure everything tech related runs smoothly and securely. That means hands on management of the infrastructure and the people who support it.
- Run the daily operations for all IT systems: hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
- Lead and develop the IT staff; you'll manage their performance and help them grow.
- Create and roll out IT policies, procedures, and best practices for the organization.
- Own system security, backups, disaster recovery plans, and overall cybersecurity.
- Work with other department heads to make sure IT strategy lines up with business goals.
- Keep an eye on system performance and jump on any issues to prevent downtime.
- Handle relationships with vendors and manage the process for buying new tech.
- You'll prepare the budget for the IT department and manage it.
- Stay updated on new technologies and figure out what strategic upgrades make sense for us.
The tech stuff you should know
This isn't a theoretical role. You need to have worked with these specific tools in a multi site environment before.
- A solid background in Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Group Policy is essential.
- You should be proficient with Cisco networking tech; switches, routers, firewalls. We use Meraki gear.
- Hands on experience with VMware is key: vSphere, ESXi, vCloud Director, or VMware Cloud.
- Familiarity with cloud services like Azure or AWS in a hybrid infrastructure model is important.
- You need to understand IT compliance standards and data protection regulations that apply to our industry.
The background we're looking for
A certain level of formal education and experience is non negotiable here. We also need someone who can communicate clearly and solve complex problems.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or something closely related is required.
- You must have at least five years in IT management or as a senior system administrator.
- We need proof you can lead people and manage projects successfully.
- Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Microsoft (MCSE), or VMware (VCP) certifications are a big plus. We highly prefer candidates who have them.
