The Job

A hospital in Nashville, TN needs a PACU RN, and they're offering a $10,000 sign on bonus for qualified candidates. What You'll Actually Do

Your main focus is the immediate post operative care of surgical patients. That means managing airway support, keeping a close eye on neurological and cardiac status, and jumping on any complications or side effects the second they show up. You'll provide initial wound care to the surgical site and make sure the patient is stable as they recover. You'll work alongside the surgical team and anesthesia team. This role also includes on call availability during select non business hours ; the specifics get discussed in the interview.

Some specifics about how the unit runs:

• Self and preferential scheduling gets posted four weeks in advance
• Leadership is visible and supportive, promoting a collaborative and respectful culture where you can ask questions and give input
• You'll have staffing support from Certified Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Techs, Charge Nurses, and an RN float pool internal to HCA Healthcare
• Unit leaders, including charge nurses, round regularly to make sure your voice is heard on patient care suggestions

What You'll Be Doing Day to Day

• Delivering high quality, patient centered care while following evidence based practices and improvement initiatives
• Working as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team with providers, therapy, and others
• Using the nursing process, critical thinking, clinical judgment, and leadership to safely care for patients
• Assessing patients, monitoring them throughout your shift, and documenting changes in their condition along with the care you gave
• Teaching patients and their families about the medical condition, treatment, and follow up steps

What You Need to Have

Here's what's required for this role ; no fluff, just the facts.

• At least 1 year of Critical Care experience (ICU, ER, or PACU) ; that's a hard requirement
• An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• An active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of your start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of your start date
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) must be obtained within 6 months of your start date
