Nurse Supervisor

About This Role

What you'll actually be doing as a Nurse House Supervisor

You're the person who keeps things running when the rest of the building is quiet. Overnights and weekends, you're the administrative resource and go to clinical expert for every department in the hospital. You'll staff the place, oversee patient care, handle complaints as they come up, and make sure the right people are in the right places. You'll round on every nursing unit to check on patients and see how things are going. When something needs to go up the chain, you coordinate with nursing Managers and Directors about issues on their units, and you'll call the Administrator on Call when something is critical.

Working with Bed Management, you'll help make sure admissions go smoothly and patients get placed where they need to be. You'll facilitate the transfer and admission of clinical information from other hospitals, emergency departments, and external locations. Your job is to keep patient flow moving so delays don't pile up and problems don't fester. You're the resource staff and providers turn to for any operational need. And you'll handle staffing for the hospital during overnight hours, including acting as the liaison for per diem agency staff. All of this supports the facility's Standards of Performance and ICARE values.

What you'll need to bring

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Tennessee or a compact state ; that's nonnegotiable
  • A Bachelor's Degree, or a plan to finish one within an agreed timeframe, or at least 4 years of related experience
  • 3 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, minimum
  • Prior leadership experience is strongly preferred ; it'll give you a head start
