About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this lab director role at TriStar Centennial in Nashville, TN.

It's a big job. You'd be running the whole show for the hospital's laboratory operations. That means you're the one making sure everything from daily testing to long term strategy meets the mark; for quality, for regulations, and for the team working under you.

There's a $15,000 sign on bonus on the table for this one. The position is also incentive eligible.

The Day to Day

You're steering the ship. Your main focus is building a department that delivers excellent patient care while hitting all its operational goals.

  • Overseeing all lab operations, programs, and activities to meet organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Making sure you have a fully staffed, well trained team. You'll handle hiring, orientation, training, and regular performance feedback.
  • Developing your staff through coaching and serving as the role model for how things are done.
  • Setting department strategies and executing them to hit targets in service quality, compliance, finances, patient satisfaction, and personnel management.
  • Actively seeking feedback from both inside and outside the hospital and using it to improve how the lab runs.
  • Managing the lab's financial performance. You'll monitor budgets, identify variances, and adjust as needed to meet goals. Preparing the Monthly Operating Review report is part of this.
  • Ensuring compliance with all accrediting agencies like CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures; verifying they get an annual review.
  • Managing key vendor relationships and supply contracts in line with broader Laboratory Services and Supply Chain guidance.
  • Keeping your team informed with a solid communication plan and fostering an environment where their suggestions are welcomed.
  • Organizing operations through clear delegation of responsibilities in line with regulatory guidelines.

The Must Haves

The requirements here are specific. They aren't looking for someone who's just dabbled in management; they need proven experience running a complex operation.

  • A Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A National Certification as a Medical Technologist is non negotiable; you must have it.
  • You need 3+ years of progressive laboratory management experience with complex laboratory operations. Hospital clinical lab experience gets a strong preference.
