What this role is about

This is a PRN Endoscopy RN role at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. You'll be working in a 250+ bed facility that's Tennessee's first comprehensive stroke center and a national leader in neuroscience. The hospital has 3 helipads, a new ICU and Medical/Surgical floors, burn care services, a CARF accredited Inpatient Rehabilitation program, and it's an ACS verified Level II Trauma Center. It's also an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI.

You'll get self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance, so you can plan your life. There's a culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff. They continuously invest in equipment ; surgical instruments, devices, patient positioning ; so you can do your best work with patient safety and workflow efficiency. Unit leaders including charge nurses round to make sure your voice is heard on patient care and surgical workflow suggestions. On call is required during select non business hours.

What you'll actually do

• Evaluate patients before surgery
• Provide patient and family education about the procedure and the peri operative process
• Handle patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
• Participate in surgical site verification ; briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols ; following hospital policy
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver patient centered care while managing evidence based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
• Work as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team with providers, surgeons, surgical technologists, and others
• Apply the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently deliver safe care
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes and the care provided thoroughly
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment, and follow up care

What you need to bring

• An Associate Degree as a Registered Nurse
• RN license
• Basic Cardiac Life Support or CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of your start date
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 6 months of your start date
