What you'll do as an Acute Care Nephrology Nurse

This is a 24 bed acute care unit that focuses on patients with chronic and acute illnesses, with a heavy emphasis on renal disease. Our dialysis suites are on the same floor. You'll work alongside other department leaders, and this role builds a strong foundation for any specialty you might pursue later.

You'll assess each patient's condition during admission and then through every scheduled shift. You'll spot changes in their status and report them right away. When a medical provider orders procedures, monitoring, or other interventions, that's your cue to act. You'll document everything clearly in the patient's medical record.

• Administer prescribed medications and watch for therapeutic response. If the patient has an unintended reaction, you'll take appropriate action immediately.
• Respond to patient requests quickly. You'll anticipate what they need before they have to ask, and you'll resolve those needs.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on the medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow up steps. You'll translate complex medical terms so everyone fully understands.
• Collaborate with medical providers and the rest of the care team to deliver personalized, comprehensive, compassionate care. You'll follow nursing models like "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage."
• Act as an advocate for your patients, their families, and their caregivers. You'll represent the organization's vision, mission, and values to make sure each patient gets an outstanding experience and positive clinical results.

What you'll need to bring

You need an Associate Degree, a Bachelors Degree, or a Diploma in Registered Nursing. You must have Basic Cardiac Life Support certification, which you'll get within 30 days of starting the job.

This is a role for someone who wants to work in a 740+ bed comprehensive facility.
