About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this driving job in Nashville, TN. It's not just moving a truck from point A to point B. You're the last link in getting food to some pretty big national restaurant chains; think places like Cracker Barrel or Red Lobster. That means you're the face of the company when you pull up, and doing things right matters.
What you'll be doing
You'll be driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on local, over the road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. The core of it is delivering food products safely and on time, every time.
- Run through all your pre trip and post trip safety checks like your life depends on it; because it does. You're inspecting your rig against DOT rules and our own standards.
- Check your load. Make sure the freight is secured properly and that what's on your paperwork matches what's on the trailer.
- Drive your assigned route, deliver orders, and unload product into the customer's storage area. This involves using equipment like two wheelers and lift gates.
- You're handling paperwork at every step: delivery verification with customer signatures, collecting payment if needed, logging hours of service, and checking in any returns or damaged goods.
- Keep your tractor and trailer clean and secured. General housekeeping is part of the gig.
- Communication is huge. You'll interact with customers, vendors, and our team professionally. If you see a safety issue or need a repair, you report it immediately.
The basics we need from you
We've got some non negotiables for insurance and safety reasons. Here they are:
- A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A).
- At least six months of commercial driving experience under your belt.
- You must be 21 years of age or older.
- A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the last three years is required.
- You need to meet all state licensing rules and have (or be able to get) a current DOT Health Card.
- A high school diploma or GED is necessary.
The physical side of things
This isn't a desk job. You should be prepared for this kind of work:
- You'll be lifting cases by hand throughout your shift. Most product weighs between 10 and 35 pounds, but some items can range up to about 60 or 90 pounds depending on the location.
- You must be able to use equipment like two wheelers and lift gates to move that freight around.
The schedule & pay
The average annual salary for this role falls between $80,000 and $89,000 per year.
