Cath Lab RN

Ascension·Nashville, TN

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Cath Lab RN spot in Nashville, TN. It's not a gig for someone who's just looking for a quiet day. You're in the thick of it here, managing complex cardiac procedures from start to finish. If you're the kind of nurse who thrives on precision, advocacy, and being the crucial link in a high stakes team, this is probably your kind of place.

The Work

You'll run the clinical prep for patients heading into cardiac procedures. That means getting them physically and emotionally ready for what's coming. Once they're in the room, you're their advocate; you'll handle expert hemodynamic monitoring and administer conscious sedation, keeping a close eye on every vital sign through the whole case.

You create and document the care plans. You're also the main line of communication between the patient and the physician, relaying status changes in real time before, during, and after procedures so the doc can respond immediately.

A big part of your day is making sure everything runs smoothly for the medical team. You manage the setup and delivery of all the specialized equipment they need, exactly when they need it.

What You Need to Bring

  • A Registered Nurse credential from the Indiana Board of Nursing. Non negotiable.
  • A BLS Provider certification. You need to get this within your first month if you don't have it already. They accept it from either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • Your education needs to be a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing. Or, you need to have your required professional licensure in hand at the time you're hired.
  • The schedule is full time days. You'll work four 9 hour shifts each week, starting at either 6:30am or 7:30am.
  • There's call involved with this role. When you're on call, you have to be able to get to the facility within 30 minutes.

Stuff That Would Really Help

  • A Bachelor's of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • They'd like you to have at least two years of clinical experience in a high acuity setting. Think Emergency Department or ICU.
  • You must obtain your Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of starting employment. Having it already is a strong preference; they accept it from AHA or Red Cross too.
  • The environment is fast paced and procedural. Strong clinical assessment skills are a must.
  • You should be very familiar with EP procedures, cardiac rhythms, and devices.

The Package

This is with Ascension St. Vincent. They've got a whole suite of benefits; your recruiter will give you all current details; but here’s an overview:

  • Health coverage: medical, dental, vision, prescription plans with HSA/FSA options.
  • Financial stuff: a 403(b) plan with an employer match, disability and life insurance, plus some hardship resources.
  • Time off: pro rated paid time off and holidays.
  • They help with career growth through tuition programs (they mention "Vocare"), reimbursement for some things, and professional development.
  • Support for emotional well being includes an Employee Assistance Program, counseling, and spiritual care resources.
