What you'd be doing

You're running complex diagnostic cardiac imaging studies. That means you're the one skillfully handling the transducer, choosing the right technical settings to get the clearest possible picture of what's happening with a patient's heart.

• You'll identify critical pathologies and anatomical structures in real time during exams.
• A big part of the job is guiding patients through the process. You'll position them comfortably and communicate clearly to keep things safe and calm.
• After an exam, you're validating image quality and patient history in the PACS system. This makes sure the medical team has accurate records ready to go.
• And you're upholding all the safety and quality control standards. Every procedure needs to meet regulatory requirements and protect patients.

What you need to bring

On the education side, it's one of these paths: a High School diploma with 2 years of relevant experience, an Associate's or Technical degree, or 4 years of applicable job specific experience.

The certifications are specific. You need a BLS Provider certification from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within your first month (30 days).

You also need one or more of these credentials within 6 months (180 days) of starting:

• Cardiographic Tech from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography from ARRT.
• Cardiac Sonographer from ARDMS.
• Medical Sonographer from ARDMS.
• Sonography Tech specializing in Cardiac from CCI.
