Occupational Therapist

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this job.

You're an Occupational Therapist. Your office isn't a clinic; it's someone's living room, their kitchen, the place they feel most comfortable. At CenterWell Home Health in Mobile, AL, that's where the real work of getting people back to their lives happens. You're not just treating a condition; you're helping someone relearn how to make a cup of coffee, get dressed on their own, or do the things that matter to them at home.

What you'll do

Your day is about building independence, one practical step at a time. You'll evaluate patients right in their homes, figuring out what daily or work related tasks are challenging them. Then you build a plan with clear goals to tackle those challenges.

  • You run diagnostic tests and interpret the results to help paint a full picture of a patient's function for their doctor.
  • Crafting the treatment plan is a team sport. You'll confer with physicians and the rest of the care team to develop and adjust the plan of care.
  • The therapy itself involves providing treatment per physician orders to restore strength, coordination, and range of motion. Sometimes it's about teaching new ways to compensate for lost function.
  • A big part of success is setting up the support system. You'll design programs and train family members or staff on carrying over skills like dressing, grooming, and feeding.
  • You coordinate with other specialists to develop reintegration plans, whether that’s getting back to work or back into community life.
  • Recommendations for adaptive equipment fall under your purview too; anything that makes a home or task more manageable.
  • There’s supervisory responsibility. You’ll coordinate with and evaluate any Occupational Therapy Assistants or Home Health Aides working on implementing OT services.
  • And of course, the paperwork. Documenting observations, interventions, and evaluations accurately on the day of service is crucial. You'll handle interim physician orders and submit all required plans and summaries.

The background we need

We're looking for someone who gets it; that home health is its own unique world. Here’s what you should bring:

  • A degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program is non negotiable.
  • You need a current, unrestricted OT license for this state and current CPR certification.
  • A valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation are absolute must haves. This job is on the road.
  • A minimum of six months experience as an OT is preferred. If some of that was in home health? That's a definite plus.
  • The logistics can be complex so good organizational skills help you stay on top of it all. Clear communication with patients, families, doctors; it all matters here.

The schedule & pay

This is a full time position at 40 hours per week. The pay structure has two parts: there’s pay per visit/unit which ranges from $54.00 - $76.00. For salaried purposes based on that 40 hour week, annual base pay typically falls between $85,400 - $117,500. The exact number depends on your specific experience and qualifications.

Benefits at Humana

Humana provides benefits aimed at whole person well being for you and your family. The package includes medical coverage along with dental and vision insurance. Saving for later? There’s a 401(k) retirement plan. The time off policy covers paid time off plus company holidays; there’s also volunteer time off as well as paid parental leave. They offer short term disability coverage if you need it; long term disability insurance; life insurance; caregiver leave; personal holidays; sick days...the list goes on.
