CVOR RN

Ascension·Milwaukee, WI

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this travel CVOR RN role. It's a bit different from your standard hospital job, and that's the point. You're joining Ascension's Associate Travel Program, which means you're going where the need is; locally within Milwaukee, WI or nationally. Your base will be one of their acute care hospitals, but you're part of a mobile team.

The Work

You'll be in the cardiovascular operating room for the complex cases. We're talking open heart: CABG, valve replacements, aortic dissections, heart transplants. Your focus is on two key roles: scrubbing and circulating for these procedures.

It demands precision. You'll maintain strict aseptic technique and handle the intricate sterile setups for cardiopulmonary bypass. You need to be comfortable with the specialized tech that comes with this territory; cell savers, specific sutures, intraoperative bypass monitoring.

And you've got to be ready for when things move fast. Part of the job is facilitating rapid interventions for situations like massive hemorrhage or emergency cannulation during a cardiac arrest in the OR.

What You Need to Bring

  • A Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
  • Your Registered Nurse license is required before your hire or transfer date.
  • For travel assignments, you must have either a compact RN license or a state RN license that's valid for your assignment location before you start.
  • Get your BLS Provider certification within one month (30 days) of starting; they accept it from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • At least one year of RN experience in an acute care setting is required.

A year or more of acute care experience is what we're really looking for. Any applicable license or certification required by your specific contract will also be necessary.

The Schedule & Pay

This is a full time position at 40 hours a week. Multiple shifts are available depending on the assignment. The gross weekly rate can go up to $2,620.

The Benefits (The Real Stuff)

The benefits here are substantial because they know this work isn't easy. What you get depends on your position, scheduled hours, and location; your recruiter will give you the final details. Here’s what’s generally on offer:
