About This Role
CNC Machinist / Programmer
Our client, a manufacturing shop that focuses on prototype and low volume production, needs a CNC Machinist who can also handle programming. This is for their facility in Milwaukee, WI. You'd be working on 1st shift.
The pay range for this role is $25 to $30 an hour.
What you'll actually be doing
- Writing programs right at the CNC controller using conversational programming techniques. No off line CAM work here, you're running the machine and the code together.
- Handling tool selection, fixture setup, and work offset calibration so everything cuts true.
- Reading complex blueprints with GD&T plus engineering specs, then machining parts to match those prints exactly.
- Checking your own work with micrometers, calipers, and gauges ; making adjustments as needed to hit tolerances.
- Troubleshooting machining problems when they pop up: tool wear, chatter, bad surface finishes. You fix it and keep production moving without sacrificing quality.
What you need to bring
- Real experience in CNC machining with a focus on conversational programming ; not just pushing cycle start buttons.
- A solid understanding of speeds, feeds, materials science (how different alloys cut), and which tooling works for each job.
- Strong shop math skills plus a knack for solving problems before they become scrap parts.
- The ability to work alone when needed while keeping multiple tasks moving forward at once.
- A quality first mindset where attention to detail isn't optional ; it's how you work every day.
The benefits that come with this job
After a waiting period you'll qualify for medical and prescription drug plans. There's also a dental plan available. They offer supplemental life insurance and short term disability coverage. And there's a 401(k) plan too.
- A chance to take on challenging projects that aren't run of the mill production work
- The potential to build new skills and push your career forward within the organization
- A team environment where people actually care about quality and precision
Note: The above benefit information is what the employer shared; if anything sounds unclear or specific eligibility questions come up during the hiring process your recruiter can walk through it all with you directly.*
