About This Role
Mechatronics Technician (Sr. Maintenance Mechanic) ; Miami, FL
This job is about keeping automated packaging and distribution equipment running. You're the person who leads the service technicians, solves the hard problems, and handles the projects nobody else can figure out.
You'll train and mentor other technicians too. And you'll work with the Operations Maintenance team to design solutions that keep things moving.
What you'll actually do
- Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
- Maintain and troubleshoot every conveyor system in the building
- Lead and audit preventative maintenance procedures
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components, photo eyes, motor starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, and similar gear
- Create and close out work orders with data including labor hours, equipment maintenance, and parts used
- Keep a positive working relationship across the entire Operations facility
- Develop training plans for service technicians
- Develop work plans for emergency repair of critical assets
- Move up to 49 lbs, and stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours
- Travel up to 20% of the time
What you need to bring
You need a high school diploma or equivalent. Beyond that, here's the experience that matters:
- 3+ years doing preventative maintenance
- 3+ years reading blueprints and schematics
- 2+ years of work order management
What will set you apart
- An Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college, focused on Mechanical or Electrical fields
- 5+ years working with automated conveyors and controls
- 2+ years with electrical and electronic principles
- 4+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Electrical fields
- Previous leadership experience
- Previous vendor management experience
- Experience with robotic maintenance
- Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards per Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Safety standards
- Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
The physical part of the job
This isn't a desk job. You'll be doing repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking. You'll lift parts and tools averaging 20 pounds, occasionally up to 49 pounds. Eye/hand coordination matters, and you'll use your feet for foot pedals. Manual dexterity for picking, pinching, holding, grasping, and wrist motion (repetitive flexion and rotation) is part of the work.
Working conditions include small spaces, dust, fumes or odors, hot and cold temperatures, indoor and outdoor noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces. You'll stand and walk on concrete for 10+ hour shifts. You'll work at heights. You'll push and pull wheeled equipment and carts up to 100+ pounds. You'll maneuver awkward or bulky equipment parts and work in cramped positions under or behind machinery.
Schedule and compensation
You need flexibility with schedules, shifts, and areas ; including weekends, nights, and holidays. The estimated compensation for this position is $76,960.00 per year. This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ based on qualifications, location, market conditions, and other considerations.
