- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
- Adapt your teaching approach to fit different learning styles and experience levels.
Requirements
- A valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record for the past three years.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent professional driving experience (OTR preferred).
- A state issued CDL Instructor certification or the ability to obtain one quickly.
- The patience to explain complex procedures multiple times and the assertiveness to enforce strict safety standards.
- You need to be physically able to demonstrate inspections, enter/exit the cab frequently, and occasionally assist with minor vehicle issues.
What It's Like In This Role
Your classroom might be a traditional room one day and the passenger seat of a tractor trailer the next. You’ll work closely with a small team of other instructors, sharing tips and coordinating schedules for equipment use. Most programs use a mix of digital logs for tracking and classic paper checklists. Expect a full time schedule that often starts early to maximize daylight training hours; some days will be long, but they’re rarely monotonous.
Why You'll Like This Opportunity
The schedule tends to be consistent without being rigid. There's real growth potential; experienced instructors often move into curriculum development or management roles. Because JobXi lists openings from many different schools and carriers in Miami, FL, you can find an employer whose culture fits you. You’ll also stay sharp on regulations yourself, which is great for your own professional knowledge.
Schedule & Work Type
This is typically a full time, onsite position in Miami, FL. Shifts are usually daytime during weekdays, but some operations may have evening or weekend classes. Part time or seasonal roles sometimes appear depending on training demand.
