Cath Lab Technologist

UF HealthยทMiami, FL

About This Role

What You'll Do in This Role

You'd be working in a Cath Lab that actually does complex work. Not just routine stuff. At UF Health's Leesburg Hospital, there are three Cath Labs and one Electrophysiology Lab. The cases here tend to be more involved ; complex interventional cases and structural heart procedures. That means you'll get real, hands on experience with the kind of work that builds your skillset fast.

As the Cath Lab CVT Charge, you'd report to the director or manager on duty. Your job is to monitor procedures during diagnostic and interventional coronary studies, peripheral studies, and structural heart cases. You'll also scrub in as an assistant during those cases. And since this is a teaching environment at its core, you'll help mentor students and new hires in the cath lab setting. You're facilitating quality care for patients every day you're on shift.

  • Monitor all diagnostic and interventional coronary studies
  • Work as a scrub assistant during procedures
  • Assist with education for students and new hires
  • Facilitate safe patient care throughout the lab
  • This is a Full Time position with Day Shift hours
  • On call is required for this role

What You Need to Bring

The qualifications here are specific because the work demands it. There's more than one path to get in, but each path requires certain credentials.

  • Education: An Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or Respiratory Therapy is what we're looking for
  • Or instead of that degree: A minimum of five years' experience in the field plus one of these certifications ; Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) OR Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES). Both must be obtained within 12 months of hire if you don't already have them.
  • Licenses & Certifications:
  • A Florida Certified Radiologic Technologist license with valid ARRT certification is preferred but not required right away
  • A Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist license with valid ARRT certification is also preferred if you go that route
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are both needed from day one

The Culture Here Is Different

The providers at this hospital actually enjoy teaching. They're excited about their field and they share what they know with the staff around them. It's not every cath lab where you get that kind of openness. The Director describes himself as a servant leader ; he's focused on making sure his team succeeds and that his community gets good care too.

The whole team here is close knit. Collaboration isn't just a buzzword; it's how things run day to day. They've got state of the art technology and medical devices to work with too.
