Financial Controller ; Conway Services Heating & Cooling
Pay: $110,000–$120,000 per year. Location: ON SITE ; Memphis, TN.
Conway Services is part of American Residential Services (ARS), the largest residential services provider in the U.S. with more than 7,000 professionals nationwide. ARS has been doing HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical work since 1975 ; that's over 50 years. Now we're looking for an experienced Controller to support our $35M service center team here in Memphis, TN.
This isn't a hands off desk job. You'll roll up your sleeves as an individual contributor while also managing the accounting team. You'll work directly with the general manager as a thought partner and financial advisor.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with the general manager and line managers to hit facility objectives and drive cost improvements.
- Interface with service, sales, dispatch, fleet, customer service, purchasing, safety, and HR teams to evaluate how current or future activities affect the numbers.
- Install and monitor financial controls across material control, shipping/receiving, purchasing, labor reporting, and central A/P processing.
- Run profitability studies and cost reduction analysis for every operating area in the facility.
- Coordinate monthly financial statements plus quarterly forecasts plus annual operating and capital plans.
- Handle month end and year end close procedures; review and reconcile account balances.
- Manage, recruit, train ; you own building out your accounting team.
- Oversee billing, credit, and collections processes from start to finish.
- Prepare annual budgets and enforce company accounting policies across the board.
What You Bring
- A Bachelor's Degree in accounting or a related discipline (or equivalent education/experience).
- At least five years of general accounting experience required; prior management experience in high volume transactional accounting is strongly preferred.
- GAAP knowledge is required
- SME or expert level proficiency with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel (think pivot tables), Outlook ; all needed daily. JD Edwards experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- The interpersonal chops to build cross functional relationships with anyone in any department ; from dispatch to executive leadership. Problem solving skills backed by proven leadership ability. - Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems including integrated ERP/accounting platforms like JD Edwards. - Comfort handling data comfortably in spreadsheets but also outputting solid verbal presentations for senior leaders. You can handle compliance on both federal tax law basics as well as standard accounts payable cycles without missing any important deadlines.
