About This Role
West Fraser needs a Regional Accountant for our finance team in Memphis, TN. You'd report to the Director and be part of the North American Operations Finance group. It's a corporate office role where you'd handle financials for several of our manufacturing mills.
What you'd do
The work splits into a few core areas. You'll manage the books for 4 or 5 specific mills.
- Review their monthly financial statements, approve journal entries, and check account reconciliations.
- You're the main accounting support for those mill teams when they need it.
- Put together segment performance reports at month end.
- Track capital project spending and analyze it against the budget.
There's also an external audit component. You'll review the quarterly audit packages for your mills and make sure everything's submitted on time to meet auditor requests.
A big part of this job is controls. You're responsible for internal control compliance, both for your own work and at your assigned mills. That includes supporting SOX testing and other internal control reviews as they come up.
We're implementing new systems, so you'd help with that transition to Oracle EPM. That means joining design workshops, doing user testing, and validating that things work. We also want someone who can lead efforts to standardize processes across segments to meet business goals.
Finally, there's a team development piece. Working with the Director and other leads, you'd help manage development plans for the mill accountants and their teams.
Your background
We need someone who's been doing this for a while. A 4 year degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance is required.
- You should have 5 to 7 years of related work experience; a manufacturing background is a strong plus.
- A CPA designation is preferred, or you might be working towards one.
- Supervisory experience would be great to have.
- You need to be accurate, good with details, and able to juggle priorities to hit deadlines consistently.
- Building relationships at all levels of the organization is important here.
- Experience with Sarbanes Oxley controls is helpful.
- On the tech side, proficiency in MS Office is a must. If you've used Oracle financial systems before, that's another point in your favor.
The schedule & location
This is a full time position based out of our corporate office in Memphis, TN.
Pay & benefits
The compensation package is strong, and benefits start on your first day.
- The starting pay is competitive.
- You get medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and short- and long term disability coverage.
- The 401(k) plan includes a company match plus an additional retirement contribution from West Fraser.
- There's an Employee Stock Purchase Plan available.
- Paid vacation days and holidays are included from the start as well as on the job training.
