About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this role. It's with a $35 million law firm in Manhattan, NY that does two main things: humanitarian immigration work and personal injury cases. They're looking to add an Immigration Attorney who knows their way around a deportation defense case.

The Work

You'd be the attorney clients rely on for some of the most important moments of their lives. That means giving clear advice on visas, green cards, naturalization; the whole spectrum. A big part of the job is standing up for people in court during removal proceedings and handling matters before USCIS.

You'll prepare all the necessary legal filings, from petitions to motions and appeals. Getting to know clients, understanding their situation inside and out, and building a strategy is central to everything. And you're expected to keep current; immigration law doesn't stand still.

  • Provide legal counsel on immigration matters including visa and green card applications.
  • Represent clients in removal defense cases and before government agencies like USCIS.
  • Draft and file legal documents such as appeals, motions, and petitions.
  • Conduct detailed client interviews to gather case information.
  • Stay updated on changes in immigration laws and regulations.
  • Develop strategic plans based on client needs and objectives.
  • Collaborate with legal staff on case management and client communication.
  • Attend master hearings to present and defend cases before immigration judges.

What You Need to Bring

A JD from an accredited law school is non negotiable. You also need to be licensed and in good standing with the Florida State Bar. They want someone with at least two years focused specifically on immigration law.

The experience they're after isn't general; it's direct, hands on work with removal defense, USCIS procedures, and both master and individual hearings. And you have to be bilingual; English and Spanish fluency is required for this position.

The Details & How to Apply

The pay range for this role is $85,000 to $125,000 per year. The benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off (PTO), and a 401(k) plan. They mention having great support staff and point to opportunities for hands on trial experience and career growth.
