About This Role
Hey there. I'm a recruiter, and I've got a client I've worked with for years who needs to hire someone. They're a general contractor based in Manhattan, NY, and they've been around for a long time. They do solid work; commercial buildings, municipal projects, schools, industrial facilities; all over Northwest Indiana. It's the kind of place where people stick around because they treat you right and the work is steady.
The Work
You'd be running construction projects from the very beginning all the way through to handing over the keys. That means you own the schedule, the budget, and making sure everything gets done right.
- Leading project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Coordinating all the subcontractors and managing procurement.
- You're the main point of contact for the client, architects, and engineers.
- Handling all the paperwork: RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress reports.
- Running site meetings and keeping everyone updated on how things are going.
- Working side by side with superintendents to keep the job site safe and moving forward.
- Making sure everything meets code and complies with regulations.
- Managing project finances, billing, and cost tracking.
What You Need to Bring
This isn't an entry level spot. They need someone who's been in the trenches managing construction projects for a while.
- A solid five years (or more) of experience as a Construction Project Manager.
- Experience with commercial, municipal, or industrial projects is a big plus.
- A degree in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred but not an absolute deal breaker if your experience is strong enough.
- You need to really know how buildings go together; reading drawings and understanding codes isn't optional here.
- Be comfortable with project management software; you'll live in it.
- The ability to juggle more than one project at a time without dropping any balls is crucial.
The Details & What You Get
The pay range for this role is $90,000 to $120,000 per year. On top of that:
- A full benefits package including health insurance and retirement plans (the specifics get ironed out when we talk).
- Paid time off plus paid holidays every year.
- A company vehicle or an allowance for one; it depends on your background. A stable pipeline of work so you can build a career here. The culture is genuinely team oriented; it's not just something they write down.
