Physical Therapist

Sigma Rehab·Manhattan, NY

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Physical Therapist opening at Amsterdam Nursing Home in Manhattan, NY. I'm helping them find someone to join their rehab team. It's a full time gig in their skilled nursing facility.

What you'd be doing

You're the PT. That means you're evaluating residents, figuring out what they need, and building the plan to get them there. You'll use exercises, hands on therapy, and stretching to help manage pain and improve function.

  • Your main focus is guiding residents through their rehab tasks and tracking how they're doing.
  • There's some supervision involved for the physical therapy assistants.
  • A big part of the job is maintaining trust; you keep resident information confidential.
  • You'll handle the required documentation and stay compliant with all the federal, state, and local rules.
  • And you're part of a healthcare team, so building good relationships with your colleagues matters.

The background we need

First thing: you need to be a graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy program. Your license has to be current for New York State. If you're a new grad who's already finished the program and you're actively working on getting that New York license, we should still talk.

Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric setting is a definite plus. But don't let that scare you off if you're just starting out; new graduates with solid fieldwork experience are encouraged to apply. We want someone whose approach lines up with current evidence based practices and the standards from the American Physical Therapy Association.

The deal

The pay is highly competitive. You get weekly paychecks, which is nice for planning. The schedule here has some flexibility to it.

  • The benefits package includes medical insurance, plus vision and dental coverage. It's comprehensive but designed to be affordable.
  • You start accruing Paid Time Off right from your first day. It's a generous setup.
  • There's a 401(k) Retirement Plan available.
  • They invest in your growth. You get CEU reimbursement for continuing education and access to advanced training opportunities.
  • Every therapist gets clinical support and mentorship. They're even willing to hire and train new graduate therapists.
  • The rehab gym is state of the art, so you've got good tools to work with.
  • They also have an employee referral program if you know someone else who'd be a fit.

A quick note from me

The team at Amsterdam Nursing Home is experienced, and they're committed to this work; helping patients regain independence and hit their goals. Whether you've been doing this for years or you're just launching your career, if you want to use your skills as a PT to actually improve lives, this could be your spot. Oh, and ask me about their Immigration Sponsorship Program if that's relevant for you.

How to apply

If this sounds like your kind of work environment, send over your info. Make sure your resume clearly shows your PT education path and details your licensure status or progress in New York State.
