Pediatric ICU Registered Nurse (Travel Assignment)
This is a 13 week travel assignment for a PICU RN in Manhattan, NY. Fusion Medical Staffing is looking for someone who knows their way around a pediatric intensive care unit and won't back down from high acuity situations. You'll work with critically ill infants, children, and adolescents who need advanced specialized care.
What you'll actually do on the job
- Explain procedures and treatments to pediatric patients and their families so they understand what's happening and feel supported through scary moments
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments using approved pediatric nursing techniques and protocols
- Set up and operate advanced medical equipment like ventilators, central line setups, and hemodynamic monitors while assisting physicians during treatments and exams
- Watch patients continuously, evaluate their condition, record significant findings, and notify physicians immediately when something changes or goes wrong
- Monitor vital signs and other clinical data to spot deviations from normal ; then jump in with rapid interventions when needed
- Respond to life saving situations based on pediatric nursing standards, policies, procedures, and intensive care protocols
- Create a patient education plan that fits each patient's needs (with direction from the physician or hospital policy)
- Document all relevant history and physical assessments accurately in medical records
- Follow hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards at all times
- Tackle other duties as assigned within your scope of practice
The kind of experience you need
One year of recent experience as a PICU RN is required. That's non negotiable.
- A valid RN license that complies with state regulations in Manhattan, NY
- Current BLS certification from AHA or ARC
- PALS certification from AHA/ARC or ENPC certification
- ACLS certification from AHA/ARC is preferred but not required out of the gate
- C CRN certification is also preferred but not mandatory
- Other certifications or licenses may be needed depending on the facility requirements in Manhattan, NY ; we'll sort that out together if there's something extra needed
