The Job in Plain English

Margaritaville Resort Times Square needs a Handyman in Manhattan, NY. This isn't a glamour gig ; it's the person who keeps everything running so guests don't notice anything broken. You'll work indoors and outdoors, handle emergencies when they pop up, and report to a supervisor when needed.

What You'll Actually Do

• Assist with operating, maintaining, and repairing all kinds of equipment around the property
• Change light bulbs, do preventative maintenance in guest rooms ; that means vinyl repair, touch up paint, minor furniture fixes, tub caulking, tile work, and so on
• Handle preventative maintenance on ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC systems, guestrooms, meeting rooms, the swimming pool, and the hot tub
• Fix plumbing and laundry equipment, maintain all exhaust fans and supply systems, and keep an eye on energy conservation
• Repair vacuum cleaners and any other small equipment when someone asks
• When an alarm goes off, you respond immediately to find the exact location and cause. You figure out whether it's an emergency, then report your findings to the Front Desk
• Any other tasks your supervisor or manager assigns ; that's part of the job too

What You Need

• Experience in a hotel or something closely related is preferred, but not mandatory
• A High School diploma or equivalent is required
• A license in a trade ; plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, something like that ; is preferred
• A valid driver's license for New York State is required
• You need an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (this is specific to the property)
