What you'll actually do at SRS Building Products
This is a warehouse role in Madison, WI where you're handling the flow of materials from the moment they arrive until they leave on a customer's truck. You'll be receiving shipments, verifying counts, unloading by hand, and making sure everything is logged and stored the right way. When orders go out, you're the one loading them accurately and making sure the paperwork matches. It's a hands on job where inventory accuracy and timing matter.
You'll keep the warehouse and yard organized and clean ; that includes general maintenance and making sure safety standards are followed every day. You'll distribute materials to the right storage spots, rotate stock, and flag any damaged product or discrepancies so they get resolved quickly. And you'll be talking to customers and teammates regularly, using your knowledge of what we stock to help people get what they need. The whole operation runs on a "team first" attitude, and that's how you'll work here.
- Receive, count, verify, and manually unload incoming orders and shipments
- Log and store materials according to company standards
- Load outgoing orders onto trucks and customer vehicles, with correct documentation
- Keep the warehouse, yard, and office areas clean and organized
- Manage inventory by distributing materials to designated storage areas and rotating stock
- Report any discrepancies or damaged products
- Use forklifts and other material handling equipment safely
- Communicate with customers and teammates to support service and efficiency
Where you'll work and who you report to
This is an on site role in Madison, WI at a working warehouse. You'll report to the Operations Manager, Assistant Branch Manager, or Branch Manager. No direct reports. No travel required ; all duties are performed within the warehouse and branch location.
You should expect a mix of physical work and desk level tasks. That means lifting and moving up to 100 pounds, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces. There's exposure to loud equipment, extreme weather, and airborne particles. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities. During peak seasons, you'll need flexibility for extended hours.
What you need to bring
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Math skills for inventory counts
- Strong English communication ; both verbal and written
- A real focus on customer service and working well with others
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective time management and the ability to work as part of a team
- Reliable and safe work habits
What gives you an edge
Not required, but if you have any of the following, it helps: Forklift Operator certification (preferred, and if you don't have it yet, you should be willing to get it within a set timeframe). Experience in high volume distribution centers. Familiarity with inventory management software and Microsoft Excel. Experience with industry specific software. Strong relationships with customers, vendors, and teams. Proficiency in Spanish or another secondary language. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and warehouse safety. Experience conducting safety audits and training. Leadership or mentoring background. The ability to adapt to changing environments and stay resilient under pressure.
