About This Role

Manufacturing Technician – Madison, WI

This is a role where your day to day work directly supports hospitals and patients. You'll be part of the manufacturing process that turns donated blood into transfusable components ; red cells, platelets, and plasma.

It's hands on work in a regulated environment. You'll operate lab equipment, track inventory, and make decisions based on what you see and the information you get from other teams. Accuracy matters here. So does a steady pace.

You'll need to train on first shift for about 4 to 6 weeks before moving to your regular schedule. That's non negotiable.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Process blood products after they come in from donors ; scanning units, leukoreducing, and separating them into red cells, platelets, and plasma
  • Meet production and quality goals while keeping accurate documentation
  • Manage inventory through the manufacturing and distribution process
  • Use computer programs for component production, labeling, storage, and sample tube management
  • Inspect units visually and make decisions based on information from other departments
  • Perform complex tasks like pooled product manufacturing, freezing, washing, deglycerolizing, and pathogen reduction
  • Communicate with internal customers, vendors, and volunteers
  • Work variable hours that include weekends and holidays ; hospital needs come first

Schedule & Pay

Full time, 2nd shift. Tuesday through Saturday, 2:30pm to 11:00pm. The starting pay is $20.81 per hour, plus shift differential.

You must be available to train on first shift for 4 to 6 weeks before moving to this schedule.

What You Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in a regulatory, laboratory, or manufacturing environment ; or a combination of education and experience
  • Comfortable with computers and a range of software and lab equipment
  • Attention to detail and good documentation habits
  • Ability to work on a team and also on your own with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements

You'll be standing, stretching, stooping, and bending for extended periods. You'll lift, pull, push, and move objects up to 50 pounds. You may work in walk in refrigerators or freezers for stretches of time. You'll also need to wear protective gear like lab coats, gloves, and face shields.
