The Role
This is an Installation Delivery Manager position with Johnson Controls in Madison, WI. You'll manage the Branch delivery teams that handle Controls, Equipment, and Mechanical Installation. It's not a hands on install job. It's a leadership role where you're responsible for the teams that do the work. You'll oversee project execution, performance tracking, and how those teams deliver for the customer.
You'll work under general direction. That means you've got latitude to make decisions, but you're also accountable for results. You'll report up to the Senior Installation Manager and help them with the annual strategic and financial operating plan.
What You'll Actually Do
You'll manage the overall execution and performance of the assigned Controls and Mechanical Installation delivery teams. That's the core of this job. You'll make sure Branch goals and objectives are met ; things like SINC, cash flow, reducing equipment and project slippage, backlog growth, SG&A, and productivity improvements. You'll also handle succession planning.
- Recruit Project Team Leaders, System Team Leaders, Lead Systems Specialists, Project Engineers, and Equipment System Application Engineers. You need people with the right skills and competencies to meet the Branch's needs.
- Assign projects and make sure the right engineering, commissioning, and mechanical resources are assigned to each one.
- Set goals and development plans for everyone who reports to you. You'll evaluate their performance and handle salary management.
- Drive asset management: cost control, billings, collections, and payables.
- Ensure estimating and engineering standards are used effectively across the team.
- Follow up on customer satisfaction issues and drive them to resolution. You're focused on making customers happy.
- Coach your teams on managing project risks, conflict resolution, and building project recovery plans when things get off track.
- Promote securing change orders. That's part of the financial health of the branch.
- Help Project Team Leaders, System Team Leaders, Sales, Project Engineers, Lead Systems Specialists, and Equipment System Application Engineers interpret contract terms and conditions.
- Schedule installation projects and equipment backlog, including want dates and ship dates.
- Develop and build relationships with contractors, customers, consultants, and subcontractors in the community.
- Ensure compliance with the Safety Program for employees and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with state, local, and Federal legal requirements. The installation business has to run with the highest ethical standards.
- Assist management with revenue forecasting, billings, collections, and resource planning.
What You Need to Bring
- A Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture. Or equivalent experience.
- Seven or more years of progressively more responsible project leadership experience in the Building Construction Industry.
- High level competence in written and verbal communication. You need to be clear and effective.
- You're able to travel based on where your assigned teams are located.
It's also preferred if you have experience with MS Project and MS Tools. And you should be able to manage multiple tasks, negotiate effectively, and handle conflict resolution issues.
Compensation and Benefits
The hiring salary range for this position in Madison, WI is $100,000 to $150,000. That range is based on your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market data.
