About This Role
I've been placing people in caregiving roles for over a decade. The good ones, the ones who stick with it, they don't just see it as a job. It's about showing up, being consistent, and building real trust. That's what this role at REM Community Services, part of Sevita, is built on.
The Work
You're there to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their daily lives and in the community. Your day isn't about checking tasks off a list; it's about helping people live well.
- Build genuine relationships with the individuals you serve.
- Assist with personal hygiene and care.
- Help folks work on developmental goals, which could be anything from budgeting and exercise to meal planning.
- Support participation in community activities and hobbies they enjoy.
- You'll work with individuals who may have behavioral challenges or other complex needs. Patience and a calm approach are everything here.
The Schedule & Pay
This position runs Monday through Friday, with every other weekend involved. The shift is from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The pay rate is $15 per hour.
What You Need to Bring
We can teach a lot of things, but we can't teach character. You need to come with that.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A valid driver's license and access to an insured, registered vehicle are non negotiable for community outings.
- Six months in human services, direct care, or care coordination is a definite plus, but not an absolute deal breaker if you have the right mindset.
- The person who thrives here is reliable, adaptable, and manages their time well. You're patient and compassionate by nature.
The Good Stuff
This is a part time role based on the schedule above. For our full time team members, Sevita provides a solid benefits package. It includes paid time off and holiday pay so you can recharge. There's a 401(k) plan with a 3% company match. You'll get training and support from supervisors who are invested in both your wellbeing and the people we serve. It's stable work with an organization that's been doing this for more than fifty years.
