Let's talk about the work
You're running local routes out of Madison, WI with a tractor trailer and flatbed. It's home daily, and your weekends are always yours. The schedule is Monday through Friday. You'll start between 6 and 6:30 in the morning and wrap up around 4:30 PM.
You'll be making 2 to 4 stops a day, delivering steel coils and metal sheets. That means you need to know how to secure that kind of load. You have to be willing and able to chain, strap, and tarp at both the shipper and the delivery sites.
What you need to bring
- A valid Class A CDL.
- A current DOT medical card.
- At least one year of verifiable Class A driving experience from the last three years.
- Specifically, you need a minimum of 12 months working with flatbeds.
- A good Motor Vehicle Record and accident history.
- A solid work history they can check on.
Having a TWIC card is a nice bonus, but it isn't mandatory to start.
The pay and schedule
This is a full time position. You're looking at averaging between $1,300 and $1,500 every week. That breaks down to an hourly rate of $30.00.
Payday is every Friday, and they offer direct deposit so you don't have to worry about a paper check.
