The Gig

This is a bartender role in Madison, WI with a solid pay structure. You're looking at $13.10 an hour plus tips, and the average total lands between $28 and $30 per hour. It's a full time position with serious benefits and paid vacation. Free parking is included, and there's room to move up if that's what you want.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Take orders and punch them into the POS system without messing them up.
  • Handle payments and make change for customers.
  • Pour cold, frozen, and hot drinks, plus serve all kinds of food items.
  • Move supplies and equipment between storage and the work area when needed.
  • Keep your work area clean throughout the day ; that means wiping down surfaces, cleaning utensils and equipment, taking out trash, sweeping, and mopping.
  • Do other duties as they come up. It's a real job with real variety.

What You Need to Have

  • You must be at least 21 years old.
  • At least one year of bartending experience under your belt.
  • You also need certification from a state, federal, or local required training program.
  • A basic understanding of food and beverage prep and how to serve alcoholic drinks properly.
  • You have to read, speak, and understand English well enough to take orders from guests and chat with them.
  • Basic math skills ; making change, totaling checks, counting your bank, preparing cash drops, and understanding weights and measurements.
  • Can operate a keyboard and use point of sale procedures to pre check, order, and close out a check.
  • You can stand and work in confined spaces for long periods without losing steam.
