What the job is
You'd be a Tree Climber on SavATree's General Tree Care Team in Madison, WI. This isn't a removal crew ; it's about keeping landscapes healthy and intact. You'll climb, prune, remove when necessary, and brace trees using cabled supports. Chainsaws are part of your daily toolkit, and you'll operate aerial lifts (bucket trucks) regularly.

What you actually do day to day
- Climb and prune large shade trees and ornamentals using proper arboricultural practices
- Perform removals, cable bracing, and related tree care techniques
- Safely operate chainsaws and other equipment along with bucket trucks
- Work as part of a team delivering high quality service to clients across Madison, WI properties
- Apply industry safety standards in every aspect of tree care
What you need to bring
- Real experience with proper pruning for big shade trees and ornamentals
- The ability to identify native and introduced tree/shrub species plus their characteristics
- Comfort climbing without spurs
- A solid understanding of tree care safety standards
- Hands on chainsaw experience ; not just watching someone else do it
- Past work operating aerial lifts (bucket trucks)
- A valid U.S. driver's license; a CDL would be helpful too
- The legal right to work in the U.S.
A note on the physical side of things
You'll be climbing, working at heights, and lifting up to fifty pounds regularly throughout the shift. That's not negotiable ; it's what plant healthcare demands.
