How This Role Works
In this job, you'll travel to project sites across Northern California, Oregon, and Washington to keep our field equipment running. That means performing maintenance, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs ; safely and professionally, every time. There is real room to grow here. If you have the drive, you can work toward higher level roles in our Fleet Department. And yes, you will need to respond to emergencies outside regular hours sometimes, plus work overtime including weekends and holidays when the job calls for it. A company vehicle and fuel card are provided, and when you travel, meals and lodging are covered too.
What You'll Do
- Perform mechanic assignments using independent judgment to make decisions that fit specific work situations
- Handle a full range of servicing and repairs on various fleet equipment, including malfunctioning parts and systems
- Follow manufacturer guidelines and company schedules for all work
- Travel frequently to customer job sites for equipment repair and maintenance
- Keep your service vehicle clean and professional at all times
- Oversee less experienced mechanics when needed
- Do routine and preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs
- Identify mechanical problems visually or using computer diagnostic equipment
- Maintain records of time and materials used on each job, condition of the equipment, and repairs performed
- Track information in computer software; make sure repair orders and weekly timesheets are complete and accurate
- Conduct safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation
- Work in accordance with DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA, and other rules and regulations
- Participate in training programs; maintain and update safety skills and knowledge; keep current with hazardous material training requirements
- Other duties as assigned

Who Should Apply
You're looking at this role if you have real hands on experience with heavy trucks, automotive, or equipment repair. We need five years of that experience ; or you can substitute some of that with trade school or technical school time. If you've completed a vocational/technical program or apprenticeship focused on vehicle and equipment repair, we want four years of experience instead. A clean Motor Vehicle Record and a good DAC Report are required. A valid Class B CDL is desired but not required. You need to be at least 18 years old. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.

- You can do the physical work the job requires
Compensation and Benefits
Pay ranges from $38.30 to $46.90 per hour, with opportunities for overtime. Benefits start on day one of employment. You get medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. There is a prescription drug plan and short term disability. Paid time off includes vacation, holidays, and sick days. You also get a tool account, boot account, and a company vehicle with a fuel card for work travel. Health savings account and 401(k) with company match are available. The union retirement benefit and pension plan are included. And you are covered by the collective bargaining agreement.
