What the job is
At Starbucks, a Shift Supervisor is the person keeping the coffeehouse running smoothly while also making it feel warm and welcoming. You're the one who leads by example, balancing craft and heart to create a space where your community wants to hang out. It's more than just coffee; it's about meaningful moments on every shift.
What you'll do
- Prepare and coach others on making food and beverages to standard recipes, plus handle custom orders ; changing temperature, swapping ingredients, or adjusting quantities.
- Keep the store operating according to policy: cash handling, safety and security, and making sure every drink and food item is top quality.
- Direct the work of other partners (employees) and coordinate tasks for two or more people at a time.
- Engage with customers constantly ; taking their orders, fulfilling their requests, and making sure they feel seen.
- Work a flexible schedule that covers early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays.
What you need
- At least six months of experience in a role where you constantly interacted with customers and fulfilled their requests.
- At least six months of experience delegating tasks to other employees or coordinating the work of two or more people.
- You can maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- You need to learn quickly and be comfortable directing others.
- Strong oral communication skills ; you can say what needs to be said.
- A solid understanding of the retail environment.
- The ability to work as part of a team and build real relationships.
